Luxury Pet Brand Identity Dubai
Barkingham Palace is a British boutique pet grooming studio in Dubai, the kind of place where the name alone sets an expectation. The royal ethos was already there: the wit, the warmth, the deliberate Britishness of it all. What was missing was a visual identity worthy of the concept. Mike Rock Studio built one: a brand system that is regal, approachable, and impossible to mistake for anything else in the market.
The Challenge:
The name Barkingham Palace is doing a lot of work. It promises something specific: a British boutique experience, elevated above the generic grooming salon, built for an owner who considers their dog a member of the household rather than a pet to be processed. Dubai has no shortage of grooming salons. It had nothing quite like this.
The problem was that the existing visuals weren't keeping that promise. The brand looked like every other grooming studio in the city and for a clientele of high-net-worth expat pet owners who expect a certain standard in everything they engage with, that gap between name and identity was quietly costing the business.
The brief: build a brand that earns the name.
The Approach:
The creative direction had one clear principle: regal but never stiff. The British boutique luxury space has a very specific visual language, one that can tip into self-parody if handled without care, or into coldness if handled without wit. The goal was to walk that line precisely.
The references were there in the name itself. Union Jack. The Crown. The Corgi, arguably the most loaded symbol in British royal iconography, and one that carries immediate warmth alongside its prestige. These weren't applied as decoration but as the foundation of a coherent identity system, each element considered for how it would read across every touchpoint from a grooming table to a receipt.
Tone of voice was built in from the start not as an afterthought. Playful British wit, applied consistently, is what separates a brand story from a logo on a sign. Service menus become "The Pampered Paws Protocol." The grooming table becomes "The Throne." The language earns its place in the same way the visuals do.
The Work
Logo & Logomark:
A custom crown motif, corgi silhouette, and Union Jack accents composed into a mark that is immediately readable, immediately charming, and built to work across every scale from collar tag to shopfront.
Stationery & Collateral:
The identity carried through to every physical touchpoint including a wax seal on receipts that turns a transaction into a moment. Details like this are the difference between a brand and an experience.
Tone of Voice:
A defined verbal identity - playful British wit applied consistently across service menus, signage, packaging, and client communications. The voice is as distinctive as the visual system.
Brand Guidelines:
Warm golds and creams anchoring a palette that signals luxury without the stuffiness that can make premium brands feel unwelcoming. A system built for a business that wants its clients to feel special, not intimidated.
The Outcome:
Barkingham Palace now has an identity that lives up to its name and a brand story that travels. In a city full of grooming salons, it is immediately and unmistakably itself. The visual system, the tone of voice, and the considered physical details combine to create the kind of experience that Dubai's high-net-worth expat community talks about which, in this market, is the most valuable marketing there is.
As Mike put it during the project: *"Luxury isn't just about price, it's about storytelling. Every detail, from the wax seal on receipts to the throne grooming tables, reinforced exclusivity."*
